I’ve been trying to write this post for a while now, and I can never seem to actually finish it. This is the first year where I’ve been hit with a kind of seasonal depression (although I’m not entirely sure that’s what it was). Motivation just flew out the window for me. I didn’t want to do anything really, let alone work on this blog.
And looking back at my life, I realized that I kind of have a problem with starting things and then giving up. This is the third blog I’ve started. It’s not like the other two blogs were on different topics; I just felt that they weren’t perfect and instead of pushing myself to keep working on them, I gave up. And then I would have the itch to start again and the whole process repeated itself.
About a week ago I finally started to feel better, more motivated. I’ve been walking around my neighborhood whenever it feels nice out. I’ve been keeping my apartment more clean and organized than it’s been in the past few months. Going to the gym and working out has become less daunting, and I’m beginning to enjoy it more. And now I’m finally sitting down and writing this all out.
The whole reason I’m writing this post is, honestly, just for me. I needed to realize that nothing in this world has to be perfect, and things will get better over time. So, now, I’m making a promise to myself: don’t give up. Keep going. And remember that motivation comes from inside you, and you CAN do this.
Hello, friends! Welcome to Blogmas Day 5! (Blogmas Day 4 here)
Every since I can remember, Harry Potter has been part of my life. Kinda lame and cheesy, right? I can’t count the number of times I’ve re-read the series. Or watched the movies. But I do have to say, I much prefer the books.
I feel like a lot of people might read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone during the holidays too, and for good reason. There’s just something about that first Christmas you experience in the Harry Potter universe that has always stuck around with me. It helps that the first time I read this book was around Christmas, too.
And so I always read it. It never takes me too long to finish it, and somehow it always feels like I’m reading it for the first time.
Anyone else always read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone during Christmas? I know there’s a lot of you out there!
Hello, friends! Welcome to Blogmas Day 4! (Blogmas Day 3 here)
First, I want to apologize for the crappy picture. I had another one that was far less crappy, but it somehow got deleted from my camera. How do these things happen? So I had to take a quick one while it was getting rapidly darker outside. Sigh.
Anyways, I’m very excited, since I’m now fully stocked on Christmas candles. I do love those warm fall/winter scents way more than, say, something fruity. Right now I have Tis the Season lit and it’s filling the room with delicious Christmas-y scents. Pure heaven.
evergreen : white fir needles, fresh cedarwood, sweet sap
Tis the Season is definitely THE classic Christmas scent, in my opinion. It reminds me of going into any sort of craft store during the holidays. Or when grocery stores have those cinnamon stick broom things out.
It was an absolute necessity for me to get a Christmas tree-scented candle. I don’t have an actual tree in my apartment, and the scent of Evergreen definitely fills that sad void for me.
Did I get Winter just for the cute little bear on the packaging? Maybe. But it also smells DIVINE. I think its the mix of that citrusy orange and fir needles.
And now for the wild card: Marshmallow Fireside. I normally stray away from candles that smell like food, mainly because they just smell real gross to me (sorry if I offend anyone that actually loves those <3). But when I was walking around the store, I kept going back to smell this one. I feel like it’s the cedarwood oil in it. Have you noticed that I have a thing for cedarwood? But they mixed in the vanilla in a way that wasn’t too sweet and overpowering, which I love.
Anyone else go on a Christmas candle binge during the holidays? Lemme know!
I have never been more excited for Christmas-time, which is saying A LOT. I’ve mentioned that Christmas is my favorite holiday, right…? (…Yes, yes I have).
I thought I would kick off this year’s Blogmas with a playlist of all of my favorite jazzy Christmas songs. While I do love me some pop-y holiday music, those jazzy holiday jams will always have a special place in my heart. And to accompany that playlist, I’ve curated a mood board with some Pinterest images to REALLY put ya in the Christmas-y mood.
So….yes. I haven’t posted anything in about a month. Which I think is alright sometimes. My actual job has been getting a lot busier now that we’re coming close to the end of the year, which stresses me out to no end. I’ve been really unfocused and unmotivated to post just about anything, but I’m starting to get excited again. Mainly because Christmas is upon is, and I’m VERY VERY thrilled to be participating in Blogmas this year.
I’m one of those people who starts listening to Christmas music as soon as November 1st hits. It’s always been my favorite time of year, since I was a child, really. So needless to say, I’ve been prepping for Blogmas (ALREADY, yes), for the past week or so.
And I think that’s it! I’ll be keeping up with posting about once a week now that I’ve had a needed break, and I’ll keep getting more excited ABOUT BLOGMAS! WHAAAAT.
